2010 Scene Magazine Spring Cover

In 2003, Frank DePasquale and I decided to take a journey together and enter the world of publishing. As a photographer, I had a vision to utilize my skills through a visual medium. And Frank, a well known restaurateur, yearned to show our future readers that Boston was on the verge of becoming a culinary destination for visitors from around the globe. We merged our two passions and Scene Boston Magazine was born.

For the past two years we focused our publication on food, wine and travel under the name North End Scene Magazine. But after hearing from numerous subscribers and readers that they missed our lifestyle and fashion sections, I knew it was time to go back to our roots and begin another chapter as Scene Boston. There is too much happening right now to let it go unnoticed. Neighborhoods all across the city are being flooded with new restaurants and shops faster than I can count.

For our first issue back as Scene Boston we featured both the old and the new of two of Boston’s most in-demand establishments: hotels and steakhouses. When it comes to where to stay in the city, there really is something for everyone. From boutique to budget, and historic to futuristic, the options are limitless.

And when you’re staying in the city you’ve got to eat somewhere, right? In all my years here I never realized that there were over 14 classic steakhouses – some with a twist – to dine at on your next big night out. For a city that is known as one of the seafood capitals of the country, we were amazed at the quality and diversity that these steakhouses bring to the table. We even traveled to one of our favorite local getaways, Foxwoods Resort and Casino, for some unforgettable beef!

Get ready Boston, in the coming issues we will be featuring the best food, wine, travel, fashion and entertainment from every inch of the city (and a few of the ‘burbs too).

— Peace!
