Our favorite radio and TV personality invited us to join him at the KISS 108 studios to talk about our favorite topic: food! The host of the mouthwatering TV Diner, which airs weekly on NECN, will be traveling with his crew to Italy for a second time early next year to spotlight the cuisine and culture of Sicily. We can’t wait to see where his travels bring him! In the meantime, we asked Billy what he enjoys most about our own little Italy and what he thinks about his own skills in the kitchen.

What is your favorite restaurant in the North End?

With so many choices where do I even begin!? But if I had to
choose I’d say that Prezza and Bricco are two of my favorites
in the neighborhood.

Where was your most memorable meal?

The last time I was in Italy with TV Diner we traveled to the tiny fishing village of Nerano, located on the Almafi Coast, where I enjoyed the best meal of my life! We stayed at a tiny family-run inn where we were served a family style meal of calamari, fish and pasta. Everything was so fresh and authentic; it’s not very often you get to experience a meal like that. It was truly special.

Are you talented in the kitchen? If so, what are your specialties?

I don’t know if I’d call myself talented but I’m very meticulous in the kitchen. I like to take simple ingredients and make a gourmet meal out of them. I can take a grilled cheese sandwich to a whole new level!

What would your “last supper” consist of?

That’s easy. If I were on death row and had one last meal it would without a doubt be veal parmigiana. Donatello in Saugus makes one of the best!
